Subsidiary legislation to the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019- Regulations and Departmental Standards

In September 2019, the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 (the Act) became law in Queensland, the new regulatory framework is expected to commence 2021.

On commencement, the Act introduces a new legislative framework for the regulation of medicines, poisons, pesticides, fumigants, prohibited substances, and pest management activities. It will ensure requirements are easier for practitioners, industry and the community to understand and apply in practice.

Interested stakeholders are invited to review and provide feedback on three draft regulations and their associated instruments that will support the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019. The draft regulations are:

  • Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Regulation 2021
  • Medicines and Poisons (Poisons and Prohibited Substances) Regulation 2021
  • Medicines and Poisons (Pest Management) Regulation 2021.

Visit the Queensland Health website to review the draft regulations and associated instruments and provide feedback through the online survey.
