Proposal to extend workers’ compensation coverage to gig economy, taxi and limousine industry

Proposed changes to the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003

This Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) is part of the Queensland Government’s investigation into a possible extension of workers’ compensation coverage to certain gig economy workers (for example ‘work on demand’ including ride share driving and food delivery). Extension is also being considered for bailee taxis and limousines drivers.

You are invited to have your say about this proposal and the Government will have regard to issues raised in written submissions responding to this RIS.

Open submissions can be provided or you can address the focus questions provided in the RIS in relation to the respective options proposed for certain gig workers or to bailee taxi and limousine drivers.
