East Trinity Reserve Draft Land Management Plan 2018

Have your say on the future management of East Trinity Reserve.

East Trinity Reserve is a 774-hectare property managed by the Department of Environment and Science located between Trinity Inlet and the Pine Creek Yarrabah Road, near Cairns.

The property is managed for environmental purposes and is undergoing a program of acid sulfate remediation.  Its mangrove and melaleuca communities provide a natural backdrop to the Cairns CBD, and the property links Grey Peaks National Park with Trinity Inlet.

The plan identifies management directions, desired outcomes, actions and guidelines for:

  • Aboriginal Culture
  • Acid Sulfate soils remediation
  • Fire management
  • Infrastructure maintenance
  • Pest management
  • Tourism and visitor opportunities
  • Public access.

The planning area covers

East Trinity Environmental Reserve comprising the following properties - Lot 158 Crown Plan NR5877; Lot 1 Registered Plan 722816; Lot 3 Registered Plan 722816; Lot 1 Survey Plan 154461.

Where can I get a copy of the plan?

Members of the community are encouraged to review and put forward their submission. All submissions will be considered when preparing the final management plan.

What to include in your submission

All submissions will be carefully reviewed. To ensure your submission is effective, be clear and concise and include the following:

  • Page number, paragraph, and/or the management direction you are commenting on
  • The aspects you support, or do not support, and reason for this position
  • Suggested changes with supporting references, data and/or information.

What happens to your submission

All submissions will be reviewed and considered in finalising the land management plan. The department’s response to submissions will be tabled in an appendix to the final land management plan. All submissions are recorded and will be available as part of the public record, upon request.
