Better Mine Rehabilitation for Queensland discussion paper

Have your say on the discussion paper Better Mine Rehabilitation for Queensland.

The discussion paper presents a proposed mine rehabilitation policy and six delivery elements that together form an integrated mined land management framework.

The paper has been developed in response to the results of a recent review into the State's financial assurance system, and community concerns about the quality and quantity of mine site rehabilitation under existing arrangements. A lack of rehabilitation increases the risk of financial and environmental impacts to the State and the community.

The proposed policy gives greater clarity to the mining sector about expectations for achieving rehabilitation throughout the life of a mine, and transparency for the community. The integrated mined land framework establishes a path to improve rehabilitation outcomes in Queensland.
